Relieve Uterine Fibroids Naturally With Acupuncture
According to the Mayo Clinic, for women between the ages of 19-60, uterine fibroids may be a reality of life. These noncancerous growths can wreak havoc on menstruation and daily life. Being fairly common and affecting upwards of 75% of women at some stage in life does not make having fibroids any easier. With no known cause for the development of uterine fibroids, there are many conventional treatment methods ranging from surgery to pharmaceuticals with vast side effects, to ultrasound. Good news, there are alternatives! Acupuncture and herbal medicine are highly effective alternative therapies naturally treating uterine fibroids.
Uterine fibroids, or uterine leiomyomas, are not associated with cancer or increasing the risk of cancer development. That’s great! The rub is that they cause heavy menstrual bleeding, prolonged periods, pelvic pain and pressure, increased urination, urinary difficulties, constipation, and backache. Since Western science has been unable to find a cause for this occurrence, treating it is like shooting in the dark. As acupuncture is not bound by the limitations of conventional medicine, and views the body as its own natural environment, there are patterns that can be distinguished as the underlying pathogenesis of fibroids. In simpler terms, an acupuncturist is trained to identify the patterns of disharmony in a person that creates disease. An acupuncturist is also trained to restore patterns of balance in a person to bring forth vitality and wellness.
So, to a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioner, uterine fibroids is not the diagnosis. It may Qi and Blood Stagnation, Phlegm Accumulation, or Liver Qi Stagnation. To a Western physician, the cause is unknown and a likely treatment recommendation is a hysterectomy if the symptoms are severe, or a complex cocktail of medications. Every 10 minutes a hysterectomy is performed and takes up to six weeks to recover. For women that wish to remain fertile, this is out of the question.
Avoid surgery with acupuncture
Acupuncture was designed to balance the body. It is just one of many ways the ancient doctors discovered to treat all human conditions. Whether it be physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual, the science of acupuncture has an answer. That alone is comforting to most as many folks hear from western docs the proverbial “I don’t know” with a shoulder shrug. Then they are prescribed harsh drugs or offered irreversible surgery.
Acupuncture with herbs are used in conjunction as the alternative uterine fibroid treatment. As stagnations in the body leads to a build-up, by clearing the obstructions any accumulations will be removed from the body too. The uterus is a smaller organ compared to the liver or brain. Think of traffic flow and bottlenecks. Just by way of a smaller channel, the flow of energy slows and stagnates more easily. So, while western medicine may treat the symptoms or remove a vital organ as a method of treatment, acupuncture has (shall we say) gentler techniques that are even more powerful!
